An artistic imagining, not real hardware. Flat-plane illustration on a mid steel blue field: a bank of molded storage cells, all cut from one identical rounded shell silhouette, scattered across the frame at five sizes that step by a factor of ten. The largest cell fills the left of the picture, a dark navy shell holding a broad flat plane of bright cyan charge with a pale level line across it, standing in an exposed splayed rod cradle whose feet are planted on the icy limb of a comet cropped by the bottom of the frame. Smaller cells, each less full than the one it feeds, are strung across the field on a visible cable harness with red clamps, running up toward a very small pale sun at the top right. Each larger cell carries a small ochre collector panel held square to the light on a boom, with pale rays reaching from the sun to the panels. The comet shows a bright lit rim along its sunward edge, a soft coma halo, dark surface pits, and pale outgassing plumes at the right. 2026-07-04 Banking Perihelion

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. Ivory line-work panel in the Vienna Secession manner: a black and green checkerboard border frames a bank of six square furnace cells set in a strict grid. A trunk cable enters from off frame at the left through a bushing and feeds a wide horizontal bus of alternating black and green squares that runs the width of the frame; four vertical risers of the same checkerboard drop from it and send short horizontal taps into each cell, and a black and white return bus closes the circuit along the floor of the bay. Inside the cells, drawn in fine green and black outline, six stages of a melt: a faceted cold scrap, the same scrap glowing, a free-floating gold sphere of molten metal cradled by open coil arcs and ringed with short heat strokes, that sphere drawn through a die into a ribbon between two rollers, a molten slug pressed flat between two field plates, and a finished cross-braced truss with one end still warm. Tiny gold droplets drift loose in every cell. Two suited crew in deep green, their torsos made of checkerboard squares cut from the same lattice as the border, work at the return bus below, boots hooked under a restraint rail, beside a spool of ribbon and a finished truss floating free. A row of viewports along the top shows the limb of a green world. Purely procedural geometry; no text; nothing shown exists.

2026-07-03 Six Melts on One Bus

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A grainy silver black-and-white photograph, almost without colour, printed as one magazine spread: a vertical fold runs down the frame at just under half its width, the fold's shadow and lit paper edge visible, and everything to the right of the fold sits slightly lower and slightly darker, as if the spread were bound out of register. A dim mottled moon fills the upper left corner and is cropped by the edge of the page. A brilliant column of current stands on the moon's sunlit ground, pooling light around its base, and sweeps in a shallow arc down the diagonal to a vast banded planet that fills the lower right. Three ring gantries of the same design are clamped around the column, growing larger down its length: a small one at the moon with two legs braced to the ground, one at mid span, and a large one near the planet, each a foreshortened truss ring with a collar hugging the column, a canted radiator wing on one side and an instrument module on a boom. Where the column reaches the cloud tops it spreads into a bright oval pool of aurora, and a chain of smaller, fainter auroral spots trails away from it along the limb toward the lower left, fading in unequal steps. Inside the pool a long dark vessel is silhouetted edge on, four canted collector panels along its hull and a raised intake ring at its leading end, moored to the foot of the column by a single line. The lower left third of the frame is empty black sky with a scatter of faint stars. No text or lettering appears anywhere.

2026-07-02 The Cable That Was Already There

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A single vessel, drawn in flat hard-edged colour on a plain warm bone field, lies across the square on a diagonal running from lower left to upper right, with a flat tan drop shadow offset below and to the right of it. Nothing else appears in the frame: no stars, no planet, no horizon, no lettering. At the lower left end sits a bright orange cylindrical reactor drum with a dark end plate and a small dark pump box on one flank. Ahead of it a dark cone widens into a flat shield plate that faces the rest of the ship. From the shield a slim dark boom runs the length of the picture, carrying a thin orange power line along its underside. Two radiator wings stand out from the boom on opposite sides and are deliberately unequal: the larger one is longer and set further back, the smaller one shorter and set further forward. Each wing is a tapered panel banded in three flat tones, hot orange where it meets the boom, deep red across its middle and dark oxblood at its outer edge, with a few thin bone gaps running out along it. At the upper right the boom enters a large dark habitat drum with a flat rear bulkhead and a rounded nose. A broad orange collar crosses the drum where the power arrives, a line of five small bone portholes runs along its lower flank, one long bone observation slot sits near the nose on the opposite flank, and a small dark docking stub projects from the nose.

2026-07-01 The Carried Fire

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A luminous warm orange gradient field, mid in overall value, built entirely of continuous tone: the curved limb of Earth sweeps across the lower third, its night side dropping away into deep umber while a band of sunrise burns white gold along the horizon at the right. Two shallow orbital lanes cross the square as fine ruled arcs, each carrying a graded file of identical solar collectors that shrink into the distance toward the left. Every collector is the same module: a long pale gold photovoltaic wing ruled into a grid of cells, a dark chamfered bus above it, a small offset radiator block, and a short mast ending in a downward transmitting dish. The nearest collector is cropped by the right edge at many times the size of the farthest. From its dish a soft cone of beamed power descends through the horizon glow and lands on a glowing elliptical rectenna field on the dark side, where three small towers stand inside a thin ring. A family of hairline orbit shell arcs, all at one identical line weight, is ruled edge to edge across sky, limb and night ground alike. No text, no insignia, no flat colour anywhere. 2026-06-30 The Endless Dawn

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A near black indigo square with one blazing white star a little left of centre, wrapped in five nested rings of machinery drawn face on. Each ring is built of hundreds of small flat panels: the edge of every panel that faces the star is a pale lit collector face, and across each panel runs a short row of brighter cells, densest and whitest on the innermost ring and thinning to a few scattered sparks on the outermost. Short radiator fins stand off the outer edge of each ring into the gap beyond it, and each gap is filled with flat stepped bands of glow that are bright cyan close to the star and fall away to deep indigo further out, so the picture cools from white at the centre to abyssal blue at the rim. Beyond the last ring, dull rose coloured dashes drift off into the dark. In the lower right a wedge is cut through the whole nest as a technical section, and inside it the five layers stand stacked as slabs with lit inner faces, ribs and cut radiator stubs, the space between them flooded with the star's light. The dark margins carry pasted fragments of a celestial diagram: thin orbit arcs, graduated tick scales and stars drawn as short arc dashes, all cut from circles about the same centre and glued back very slightly askew. 2026-06-29 Every Watt, Spent Thinking

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A square poster printed entirely as halftone dots in three inks on a pale warm stock: hot magenta, deep violet and a single biomass green. A hard edged band of bare stock crosses the picture from the upper left, the light of an unseen sun, leaving two softly screened corners outside it. Filling the centre is a wide standing bank of eighteen tall glass culture columns, grouped three to a bay across six bays and crossed by four horizontal service decks, so the whole machine sits on one strict orthogonal grid. Each column is a violet walled tube filled almost to the top with dense magenta culture; each carries a narrow bare white specular stripe, each liquid level sits at its own slightly different height, and each column has a plug of settled green biomass banked at its foot. Above the bank runs a bright magenta power bus and a violet lamp rail carrying six downward facing luminaires, and six hard cones of magenta light spread from them across the columns. A long solar wing, subdivided into cells, runs off the top left corner and feeds a braced mast and one hot magenta conductor down into the bus; a tilted slotted radiator plate sits in the shaded upper right corner on a thin boom. Below the bank, a green filled harvest trunk runs the full width and enters a violet press block at the lower right, where a ribbon of green cake is extruded through a cutter and one cut slab lies on the rack beneath it. The whole works throws one long hard edged shadow down and to the right across the field, with thin bands of light leaking through the gaps between the decks. 2026-06-28 Light Made Edible

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A dark, near black page printed in two badly registered green inks in the manner of a degraded photocopy, with toner speckle, dropout, roller banding and stray platen hairs breaking every line. Scattered across the field are about twenty small refinery machines, none of them centred. Each is clamped to an irregular asteroid, biting into it with a toothed cutter head, feeding the cut rock into a boxed cracking still whose wound coil glows in bright acid green, drawing power from a finned reactor drum above, and piping the product into a tilted cylindrical tank that is hatched part of the way along its length like a fuel gauge. Waste rock sprays from a vent on each machine. The largest machine, at lower left, is drawn as an exploded assembly with its rock, cutter, still, reactor and tank pulled apart along dashed centre lines that run off all four edges of the page, and smaller machines tie into those lines. Two filled tanks are under way toward the upper right on their own nozzle plumes. Hundreds of unworked rock outlines recede into the dark behind everything.

2026-06-27 Exploded View of the Belt

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A continuous-tone gold and warm-neutral square at mid value. One enormous solar shade fills the centre of the frame: a gently lobed, rounded plate seen nearly face on, its sunward upper-left edge burning as a hard white line with a broad coronal flare blooming past it into the field beyond. The plate's shadowed face is modelled in smooth browns and warm golds, ruled by four long thin panel seams that run diagonally down the body, and carries one bright biomorphic blot high on the left, a collector where the absorbed heat gathers. Five hairline pipes leave that blot as a near-parallel bundle, each rendered as a dark tube with a lit crown, and run down and to the right across the plate to a brilliant curved manifold at its lower-right edge. From behind that manifold a fan of ten tapered radiator vanes sweeps out toward the lower right, white-gold and blazing at their roots and cooling through amber to dull ember at their tips, tied together by three curved spars; the whole fan sits inside a soft cool wedge of the shade's own shadow. A faint warm plume drifts off the vane tips toward the lower-right corner. Three small dark discs with lit crescents float upper right along a single fine hairline arc, and a much smaller sister shade with its own tiny glowing fan floats at lower left. 2026-06-26 The Heat It Gives Back

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A pale violet-white square, lit from the top left corner where a quarter of a yellow sun sits and three soft cream shafts of light cross the field. In the upper left is a solar collector wing: three flat violet panels of decreasing size, each with a white sunward edge and two unequal darker division planes, stepping down along a tapered dark violet mast. At the foot of the mast, three long radiator fins angle away to the lower left, orange at their roots and cooling through amber to pale lilac at their tips. One dark violet wire of a single uniform weight, drawn only in horizontal, vertical and forty-five degree runs, leaves the mast and threads across the whole picture without branching, passing in series through eight rectangular archive slabs scattered over the field. The slabs it reached first are filled solid violet, split by pale seams into unequal modules and marked with a few small lighter squares and one gold notch; the slabs later along the wire are only partly filled, the violet front stopping partway across a pale body. Scattered everywhere else are pale unlit slabs and small distant modules the wire has not reached, each with a pale unplugged connector tab. The largest slab in the picture, high on the right, is completely blank, and its connector tab hangs a short visible gap above the tip of the wire, which stops just short of it. 2026-06-25 As Far as the Wire Reaches

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A dark square lit almost entirely by its own machines. Across the middle of the frame, standing on a flat plain of finely layered ice, a row of eleven tall round-topped vessels rises from separate dark plinths, grouped four, four and three. Each vessel is a step wider than the one before it and each holds a pool of glowing cyan light whose sharp level line sits a step lower from left to right, so the crowns of the row run dead flat while the fill lines descend in a staircase. A small valve head caps every crown. Behind the row, low on the horizon, a small pale sun burns through one of the gaps and throws a warm dust glow and a soft column of light up into a deep blue sky banded with thin dust cloud. Below the row a single bright horizontal line runs the full width of the picture, brightening under each vessel, and from it a soft column of light falls to a very small lit outpost far out on the near ice. Tiny copies of the same vessels stand in a line along the far horizon. No text and no insignia appear, and nothing shown exists.

2026-06-24 The Winter Bank

An artistic imagining, not real hardware. A two ink halftone print, black and one red on mid grey stock, of a high voltage transmission line crossing the ice of a gas giant's moon. A huge banded planet fills the upper left of an airless black sky, its curved belts screened in coarse dots and cut off along one limb by a sliver of bare paper like a pasted photograph. The nearest lattice tower is cropped by the left and bottom edges, its cross arms and stacked insulator strings rendered at billboard scale; four more towers shrink away along a diagonal to the right, and four live conductors sag from tower to tower in thick red strokes printed wider than, and offset down and right of, their thin black cores. A thin black shield wire runs above them with no red on it. At the far end a low reactor block sits on a mesa with a glowing red panel and a row of red radiator fins, and a terminal gantry takes the line in. Below, a spur drops into a substation with red busbars, and feeders swing down to three dark domes whose window slits and a long hall's window band glow red, while a buried feeder crosses the foreground as a single red line between marker posts.
